Our story
We started our business on February 10, 2015. It was very different, nothing like what we have today, as it involved home delivery of organic fruits and vegetables (!). Our premises? A 10m² garage... and the office was in the bedroom!
Over time, through dedicated effort and encounters (thank you Séverine!), it evolved: first into a "drop-off" for baskets in a corner of a store, then into a general grocery store. No more itinerant work.
This unexpected outcome has led to the merging of two shops: Séverine's in the Ossau Valley and the one in Tarbes. In fact, Séverine now ensures the continuity of our "local shop" business at 9 rue du 4 septembre in Tarbes. There you will find a general grocery store, local products, a drop-off point for your cutting tools, local services (photocopying, binding, etc.), and above all, homemade ready-to-eat meals to take away, as well as cold snacks (starters, sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, etc.), all prepared by Séverine herself.
No longer available, I decided to take an intensive three-week sharpening and grinding course in Valenciennes. It's the only school in Europe to teach this ancient yet incredibly relevant skill: sharp tools are everywhere, in every environment and for every activity. We're increasingly thinking about recycling them instead of throwing them away.
From the "50-year-old housewife" with her simple paring knife to the avant-garde hairdresser and his Hamaguri wire scissors, from the butcher with his "leaf" to the tourists in our regions and their knives to which they devote an almost religious cult, from the chef and his mirror-polished Japanese knives to the gardener and his shears, all have sharp tools to sharpen.
Today's knife sharpener is undergoing a revolution: connected, building a network, equipped with cutting-edge technology, and fulfilling an environmentally responsible recycling mission while maintaining its traditional role. It allows grandparents to continue cooking effortlessly while evoking fond childhood memories, brings joy to market stalls, and demonstrates skills once passed down orally. It plays an integral part in the life of our rural communities and villages.
Thank you all for your trust, and please take care with these sharp tools that we love so much, often passed down from generation to generation. And as they say, "You don't cut yourself with a sharp knife, you cut yourself with a dull one!"
